From The Trust Board of Lions Quest Skills for Living

Welcome to our Lions Quest web page, we hope you find our web site easy to manage and informative.

Lions Quest  is a positive youth social emotional programme focusing on making healthy decisions and positive choices through lessons.  As a value based social skills programme that provides essential tools for teachers to create classrooms that empower students to develop confidence, to be connected in relationships, become actively involved in a range of life contexts and to become life long learners.

Lions Quest programmes link directly to the New Zealand Education Curriculum with a focus on principles, values and key competencies. The workshops includes strategies for successful curriculum delivery and behaviour management. At the heart of the programme is the belief that young people are resources who can make a positive difference in the world.

Alongside the 'preparation purpose' the workshop is also professional development in that the process of the workshop provides an opportunity for you to reflect on the many aspects of your role in working with young people.

Lions Clubs of New Zealand own the Lions Quest programmes, and have financially supported many teachers to train and implement Lions Quest into the Key Competency areas of the New Zealand teaching curriculum. 

With the financial support of Lions Clubs International Foundation new research is being carried out on Home/School/Community Integration. More information will be available on this web site once it becomes available.

Lions members are an important part of each community and they care for everyone within districts. Each year we hold a Lions Skills organizers training weekend, this is a very important training aide that helps to bring our Lions people up to date with the Educational system and helps with the promotion of our Skills programmes to teachers and schools.  Lions are very active in the community and would appreciate a visit from their local schools, as I am sure the Lions members would like to visit the children at school sometimes. 

We have available two Lions Quest Skills for Living videos/DVD’s. Both video's show the philosophy behind our Skills programmes, being partly narrated by a teacher at Maeora Intermediate in Hamilton, mentioning how you can fit Skills into the school curriculum and also showing part of our programme being used in the classroom situation by the students at Maeora Intermediate.
