beyond the classroom to build essential life skills.
This programme, which utilises the concept of service learning -:
· Empowers young people to address real-life school and
community issues through service
· Recognises youth as valuable resources
· Teaches essential life skills and active citizenship
· Develops personal and social responsibility
· Reinforces positive values - honesty, accountability,
self-discipline, and respect for others
Programme Components:-
The Skills for Action resource consists of:
A four part curriculum:
- Building a Learning Community
- Exploring Personal and Social Responsibility
- Taking Action Through Service Learning
- Evaluating and Sharing Service Experiences
A Skills Bank focusing on,
Cultural Awareness,
Interpersonal Communication,
Personal Management and Responsibility,
Study and Writing Skills
A Teacher Resource Guide, an Advisory Team Handbook, and a student
magazine.
Comprehensive training and ongoing support assists with implementation.
