Positive School Climate:
The Positive Impact of the Lions
Quest Life Skills Programmes on
Students and Schools.
- Better child – child relationships
- More
caring for each other across
gender and age differences
- Greater
respect shown for self, to each
other, their teachers and other adults.
- A more
trusting relationship between students and teacher
- Children
like school as a positive place to be – they know that the unpleasant things beyond their control will
be dealt with by adults
- Children
know that they have choices in
situations they find themselves in and don’t have to be angry or violent
to deal with problems
- Children
don’t have to succumb to peer pressure because they have choices to do or not to do what others want
- In a positive climate children are willing to take risks and be more creative in
their approach to their learning.
- Parents/caregivers
report positive changes in behaviour and
attitudes at home
- Children
accomplish better academic results because they are happier to learn, and less distracted by fear and
worry about their relationships.
- Teachers
are able to focus on meeting
the subject related learning needs
of individuals and groups because many of the essential skills and
attitudes are successfully introduced, practiced and learned through the
“skills” programmes.
